Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has announced the continuation of a streamlined process for International Experience Canada (IEC) participants, allowing eligible applicants to receive work permit documentation from within Canada.

In-Country Examination and Document Issuance

Under the extended process, IEC participants who are currently in Canada and hold valid IEC work permits may request examination and document issuance domestically when submitting subsequent applications. This removes the need to leave Canada for work permit printing.

Effective Date and Duration

The extension took effect on February 10, 2026 and will remain operational indefinitely.

Impact on IEC Participants

This process applies to:

  • Young professionals
  • Working holiday participants
  • International co-op students

The continuation of in-country work permit printing offers greater convenience for IEC participants seeking to renew their work authorization while remaining in Canada.

Program Context

This policy update reflects IRCC’s ongoing commitment to improving service delivery within the International Mobility Program (IMP) framework.
