The Canadian Government announced significant changes to the International Student Program, updating the list of eligible fields of study for post-graduation work permits (PGWP). Effective immediately, 119 new fields in healthcare, education, and trades have been added, while 178 fields no longer linked to labour shortages have been removed. The updated list now includes 920 eligible programs. This requirement, introduced in 2024, affects international students in non-degree programs who applied for study permits on or after November 1, 2024. Students who applied before June 25, 2025, remain eligible if their field was on the list at the time of application.
