As Canada plans to accept more immigrants in 2022, it started the year with a record-breaking number of new permanent residents for the month of January. According to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), in January 2022, the Government of Canada invited 35,260 new permanent residents.
Despite this figure being down almost 19% when compared to December 2021, comparing it to the previous years’ January months, it shows the higher immigration levels. Considering that in January 2021 Canada invited 24,700 PR candidates, the number of new PR candidates to Canada in January 2022 rose by more than 42.7%.
