Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has confirmed it is reviewing a technical issue with the Express Entry system after eligible candidates were not issued Invitations to Apply (ITAs) in the most recent French-language proficiency draw.
IRCC has acknowledged that some candidates did not receive an invitation in Express Entry French-language proficiency round #418, which took place on May 28, 2026, and has confirmed it is reviewing the situation and will provide updates as needed. Affected candidates do not need to take any action at this time. Canada.ca

What Practitioners Need to Know
The confirmation of a system-level error affecting ITA issuance is a development practitioners should monitor closely for several reasons.
It raises immediate questions about remedial action. IRCC has not yet indicated whether affected candidates will receive out-of-cycle invitations, whether they will be prioritized in the next French-language draw, or whether profiles will be adjusted in any way. Practitioners with clients who were pool-eligible at a CRS of 409 or above on May 28, 2026 and did not receive an ITA should document their clients’ profiles as of that date.
The official IRCC notice does not define the scope of the error, including whether it affected a narrow subset of candidates or a broader cohort. Until further information is published, practitioners should advise potentially affected clients to retain their Express Entry profiles and await official guidance rather than submitting new or amended profiles.
Practitioners are encouraged to monitor the official IRCC Express Entry rounds page at canada.ca for updates as they are posted.
