On May 6, 2026, British Columbia held its first sector-targeted invitation rounds under the updated BC Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP), issuing a total of 333 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to skilled workers in healthcare, veterinary care, early childhood education, and construction.

These draws mark the inaugural use of the BC PNP’s restructured selection framework, which organizes nominations under three strategic pillars: Care, Build, and Innovate.

Program Context

These draws reflect the BC PNP’s updated priorities as outlined in the province’s Look West strategy. Under the Care pillar, the program targets 36 in-demand occupations across healthcare, education, childcare, and veterinary services. Under the Build pillar, the program focuses on nine in-demand skilled trades supporting infrastructure delivery.

Practitioners should note that selection in the updated BC PNP is now highly targeted: meeting eligibility criteria does not guarantee an invitation. Candidate profiles must align with current provincial priority sectors at the time of each draw.

The Entry Level and Semi-Skilled (ELSS) stream remains officially closed, with the final invitations under that stream having been issued in December 2024.

With 333 ITAs issued on May 6, British Columbia has now invited a total of 1,770 candidates in 2026 to date.
