Employment and Social Development Canada (Employment and Social Development Canada) approved a significant number of Labour Market Impact Assessments (LMIAs) in 2025, reflecting continued demand for temporary foreign workers across multiple regions and industries in Canada.

LMIA Approvals in Q3 2025

In the third quarter of 2025, ESDC processed 31,449 positive LMIAs for temporary foreign worker positions.

Ontario recorded the highest number of approvals with 11,392 positive LMIAs, followed by Quebec with 7,811 and British Columbia with 6,336.

Provincial and Regional Breakdown

Other provinces and regions reported the following LMIA approval numbers:

  • Alberta: 2,868 positive LMIAs
  • Nova Scotia: 779
  • Newfoundland and Labrador: 263
  • Manitoba: 452
  • Saskatchewan: 752

The territories, including Yukon, the Northwest Territories, and Nunavut, collectively issued 66 positive LMIAs.
