On August 17, 2026, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held Express Entry draw #435, a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) targeted round. The Government of Canada issued 442 Invitations to Apply (ITAs), with a cut-off score of 760 CRS points, 8 points lower than the previous PNP-targeted draw on August 4. The tie-break rule for this round was set at August 7, 2026, at 18:01:56 UTC, meaning candidates at exactly 760 points needed to have submitted their profile before that time to receive an invitation.
As of August 16, 2026, there were 226,859 profiles active in the Express Entry pool. Year to date, IRCC has issued 113,865 Express Entry invitations across all draw categories, including 7,399 to PNP candidates specifically.

Reading the Cutoff
A provincial nomination adds 600 CRS points on top of a candidate’s core human capital score, so a 760 cutoff reflects a base score of only about 160 points, well within reach for candidates with modest combinations of age, education, language ability, and Canadian work experience. The drop from 768 to 760 is a relatively minor shift and does not signal a meaningful tightening of PNP-stream competitiveness.
Practitioner Implications
For practitioners advising PNP-nominated clients, the tight window between the tie-break timestamp (August 7) and the draw date (August 17) is worth noting. It suggests provinces issued a high volume of nominations in the first half of the month, likely tied to concurrent provincial draw activity. Clients who received a nomination and updated their Express Entry profile promptly were well positioned in this round; delays in profile updates following nomination can meaningfully affect standing in future PNP-targeted draws.
