Prince Edward Island conducted its eighth Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) invitation round of 2026 on August 20, issuing 181 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to candidates working in priority sectors based on their economic impact in the province.

As with previous 2026 rounds, invitations were issued across two categories: Labour Impact and PEI Express Entry. The Labour Impact category itself spans three streams — Skilled Worker, Critical Worker, and International Graduate.

Who Was Prioritized

This round continued PEI’s consistent 2026 approach, prioritizing:

• Candidates with employment offers from PEI-based organizations working in priority sectors and occupations
• International graduates from the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI), Holland College, and Collège de l’Île

Prince Edward Island has continued targeting skilled workers in healthcare, trades, manufacturing, and other sectors facing labour shortages throughout 2026. As with prior rounds, the province did not disclose the specific occupations targeted or provide a stream-by-stream breakdown of invitations.

2026 Year to Date

With this draw, Prince Edward Island has invited a total of 1,034 candidates through the PEI PNP so far in 2026. Notably, the province has not yet issued any invitations through its Business Impact Category this year, a contrast with 2025.

PEI remains the only province to publish its anticipated draw schedule in advance. Seven of this year’s eight draws have landed exactly on their scheduled date, with only the March round shifting by a single day. If the province holds to its published schedule, the next PEI PNP draw is expected September 17, 2026 — though PEI notes these dates are for general planning purposes only and aren’t guaranteed.

Practitioner Implications

For RCICs advising PEI-bound clients, this draw reinforces a few consistent 2026 patterns:

• In-province ties continue to carry real weight. Both categories this round favoured candidates already working in the province, reinforcing the value of securing a PEI job offer before submitting an EOI.
• Graduates of the three designated institutions remain a reliable priority group. Clients who studied at UPEI, Holland College, or Collège de l’Île should be encouraged to keep their EOI profiles current and clearly reflect their credentials.
• PEI’s published schedule remains a genuinely useful planning tool, given how closely the province has tracked to it this year — worth building into client timeline conversations ahead of the anticipated September 17 round.
