On November 12, 2021, the Government of Canada closed the International Experience Canada (IEC) Program for the 2021 season, not holding the final round of invitations. Applicants who received an Invitation to Apply (ITA) can still complete and submit their work permit applications.

Those who did not receive an ITA can create a new profile when the Government re-opens pools for the next season, using their current accounts and GCkey. In 2021, Canada issued 30,372 ITAs under the IEC Program.
