2026 Invitations Approach Last Year’s Total
Last year, Newfoundland and Labrador issued 3,376 invitations through its EOI system. This year’s total is now 3,207, so the province is 169 invitations short of its 2025 volume with two months left in the year. Of the 2026 invitations, 2,800 went to NLPNP candidates and 407 went through the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP).
This round continues a steady run of draws this fall. Since late September, the province has held a round almost every week. Most of those rounds went almost entirely to NLPNP candidates, with only small AIP allocations. The October 29 round, with 10 AIP invitations, was the exception.
Practitioner Implications
Shorter application window at year-end. The Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism (OIM) has temporarily reduced the application submission period to 30 days as the calendar year ends, to support timely intake and processing within the current year. Clients invited in this round and any later 2026 rounds should have their documents ready to submit soon after receiving an ITA.
AIP-track clients. No AIP invitations were issued in this round, and AIP numbers have stayed small through the fall. Practitioners should set expectations for AIP-track clients accordingly and keep track of round-by-round allocations on the province’s Invitations to Apply (ITA) Updates page.
Prioritization over scores. ITAs are issued based on OIM’s published EOI Prioritization Criteria. OIM may adjust these priorities during the year to reflect labour market needs and annual allocations. Clients whose EOIs have not been selected should keep them current, because EOIs expire automatically after 12 months.
