French-language proficiency invitations now account for more than 42% of all ITAs issued in 2026, making it the single largest Express Entry category by volume this year — ahead of Canadian Experience Class and Provincial Nominee Program rounds combined for several stretches of the year.

Practitioner Implications

• The falling French-language cut-off is a genuine opportunity. At 382, this round sits well below general and CEC cut-offs (which have held in the 500s for most of 2026), meaning candidates with CLB 7+ French ability across all four competencies — regardless of first official language — have a meaningfully easier path to an ITA right now.
• The deep tie-break date is worth flagging to clients. A March 1 tie-break on an August draw means candidates need their profile submitted well in advance to be competitive at the cut-off, not just meet the minimum score.
• This trend supports proactive language testing conversations. Clients close to CLB 7 French across all four bands may find it worth the investment given how consistently the federal government has prioritized this category all year.
